Lower Rec-Centre: It’s Pool Time!
Northeast of the shopping mall lies another product of Kitsault’s construction boom—the Lower Rec-Centre. At first glance, it’s one of the most misleading buildings on the site. From the outside, it looks like the mall’s twin, but stepping inside tells a dramatically different story.
This building is truly the heart and soul of Kitsault’s main structures. As you walk through the entrance and down its main corridor, you come across the breathtaking daycare. It’s easy to imagine the echoes of children’s laughter when every toy from the 80s still sits perfectly preserved. Blink, and you could almost swear the past 40 years have been rewound—the library alone has that effect.
The real highlight, though, lies below. Yes, that’s the original water still filling the pool since its construction. The aquatic zone is mesmerizing, complete with handmade decorations still hanging in place, untouched by time.
Families of Kitsault must have enjoyed countless happy moments here. But now, like the still, murky waters left behind, the laughter has faded, and all that remains is silence.
