Tanker Truck: A Vehicle fit for a Mad Max Film.

I LOVE Random finds! This was as fun as it gets. Im also a huge fan of rotting iron and old derelict equipment. I originally was chasing down a very interesting looking structure in SW Alberta. Upon arriving at my destination and finding nothing but a dead end - I decided to head home and find anything i could along the way.

As the iconic quote states “It’s just up around the bend” I slammed on my brakes after cresting the last hill to turn northward home.

There sitting in a field far from reach was this stunning old tanker truck. It’s origin story remains a mystery, but i would surmise it lived a long life hauling fuel for neighboring communities, maybe even in the city. Then ended up in auction and was bought by a local farmer.

It has Mad Max Road Warrior vibes, and its absolutely badass. Everything about the aesthetics is simply decayed brilliance. The trees growing out of the front grill suggest the beast has been slumbering in its location for some time.

This was also a challenging explore - as it was all done by Drone flight. I wanted to capture the epic size and detail from the sky, and the i think the shots have captured its magnitude appropriately.

For newcomers to this hobby, don’t be discouraged by failure. Get used to it! Its part of the process. Finding sites, going the mile and realizing they are gone. Timing is everything and sometimes we get lucky and sometimes we don’t. Keep moving forward and those surprises around the bend will come quicker than you think.
